Hidden Roads Near Hirosaki Castle in Forza Horizon 6 (4 views)

23 May 2026 09:23

If you have been exploring the Takashiro Region in Forza Horizon 6, chances are you already noticed how much detail is packed around Hirosaki Castle. On the surface, it looks like a scenic historical landmark with cherry blossoms, stone bridges, and narrow roads around the moat. But once you start chasing 100% map completion, barn finds, and hidden dirt trails, the entire area becomes much more interesting.

A lot of players drive through the castle district without realizing there are several hidden or partially concealed road segments nearby. Some are tied to progression, while others are simply easy to miss because of the terrain and the way the map displays roads.

The Hidden Dirt Track West of Hirosaki Castle

One of the biggest secrets nearHirosaki Castle is the woodland dirt track west of the castle grounds and northwest of the Soni Circuit. Early in the game, this route does not properly appear on the map. Even if you drive close to the area, it can look like solid forest with no accessible road.

The hidden path becomes important later because it leads toward the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III Barn Find area. To fully reveal it, you need to progress far enough into the campaign and earn the Discover Japan Gold Stamp. Once the rumor unlocks, the road network in that section finally becomes accessible.

The track itself is narrow, muddy, and packed with quick elevation changes. It feels very different from the smoother roads surrounding the castle. Rally cars and AWD builds work best here, especially during wet weather conditions.

What makes this route memorable is how natural it feels. Instead of looking like an obvious collectible path, it blends into the wooded hills around Takashiro, so it is easy to drive past multiple times before noticing it.

The Alpine Cabin Route South of the Castle

Another hidden road network starts directly south of Hirosaki Castle. At first glance, it looks like a simple off-road trail climbing into the hills, but it eventually connects toward the mountainous Sotoyama Region.

This route is one of the more scenic hidden drives in the game. The terrain gradually changes from castle-side forests into steep mountain paths with tighter corners and rough gravel sections. If you keep following the ascent, the trail eventually reaches a secluded alpine cabin near the southern edge of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.

That cabin hides one of the coolest reward cars in the area: the 1974 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale.

The climb is worth doing even if you already unlocked the car. The route feels designed for classic rally machines, and the elevation changes give the area a completely different atmosphere compared to the calm roads surrounding the castle moat.

Under-Bridge Roads Most Players Miss

Some of the hardest road fragments to discover near Hirosaki Castle are not major roads at all. They are tiny dirt connectors hidden beneath bridges and along the outer edge of the moat.

The area around the Hirosaki Scramble Race circuit is especially tricky. Several stone bridges cross narrow waterways, and underneath them are short dirt segments that barely register visually on the map.

These roads are easy to overlook because:

The map zoom level hides them

The bridge shadows obscure the entrances

The castle walls block visibility

The paths are extremely short

In some cases, you only need to drive a few meters for the game to count the road as discovered.

A good trick is to slow down completely around the moat instead of using the main roads at racing speed. Hug the outer walls and inspect every bridge crossing carefully. Some paths curve tightly around the water and almost look decorative rather than drivable.

Why the Area Causes 99% Completion Problems

A lot of players get stuck at 99% road discovery because of the Takashiro area. Part of the problem comes from the complicated layout around Hirosaki Castle, but there is also a known map display issue.

Sometimes incomplete roads appear fully colored on the map even when they have never been driven. That makes the final missing segment incredibly frustrating to locate.

The Hirosaki Castle district is one of the most common places where this happens because of the combination of:

Tiny hidden paths

Layered bridge routes

Dirt roads blending into terrain

Narrow moat-side connectors

The Fast Travel Cursor Trick

There is a simple workaround that helps identify hidden unfinished roads near the castle.

Open the world map and zoom all the way out. Then slowly move your cursor across the roads around Hirosaki Castle while watching the bottom menu bar.

Driven roads allow fast travel, so the “Fast Travel” prompt stays visible when hovering over completed roads. The moment your cursor passes over an undiscovered road fragment, the prompt briefly disappears.

The flicker happens instantly, but it is surprisingly reliable once you know what to look for.

This method works especially well for:

Tiny bridge-side dirt roads

Hidden woodland trails

Short moat connectors

Glitched map segments that appear completed visually

It can save a huge amount of time compared to blindly driving around the region.

Best Cars for Exploring Hidden Roads

You do not necessarily need an extreme off-road build for the Hirosaki Castle area, but a balanced rally setup makes exploration much easier.

Cars with strong suspension travel and stable AWD handling perform best because the terrain constantly shifts between pavement, gravel, mud, and steep inclines.

Classic rally cars fit the atmosphere perfectly here. The hidden mountain roads around Takashiro feel almost designed for vintage rally driving rather than high-speed hypercars.

If you are specifically hunting the tiny missing road segments, though, a smaller and more maneuverable car is often better than something oversized. Some moat-side paths are so narrow that larger vehicles can overshoot the entrances easily.
